1. What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small pieces of information that a provider may store in or read from a user's browser. Websites may also use technologies such as localStorage or IndexedDB. Comparable storage technologies are likewise covered by rules protecting the user's device.
2. Which storage technologies do we use?
| Name or category | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language preference, e.g. “gh-lang” | localStorage | Stores the selected language of the website and app. | Until changed or deleted in the browser |
| Display preference | localStorage | Stores the selected light or dark appearance. | Until changed or deleted in the browser |
| Firebase Authentication | IndexedDB, localStorage or comparable browser storage | Maintains the secure sign-in session and associates it with your account. | Until sign-out, session expiry or deletion in the browser |
| aiChatLightSettings, aiChatGlobalTopSetting, aiChatGlobalSideSetting, aiChatGlobalUnderSetting | localStorage | Stores the most recently used light distances and intensities for the AI chat. | Until changed or deleted in the browser |
| aiChatUseGlobalTop, aiChatUseGlobalSide, aiChatUseGlobalUnder | localStorage | Stores whether global or individual light settings are used. | Until changed or deleted in the browser |
| aiChatIsShortAnswer | localStorage | Stores the selection between concise and detailed AI responses. | Until changed or deleted in the browser |
3. Google Sign-In
When you use Google Sign-In, you are temporarily redirected to Google services. Google may use strictly necessary cookies or comparable storage technologies on its own domains to complete the sign-in process securely. Google's privacy information additionally applies to processing on Google domains.
4. Stripe Checkout and customer portal
To purchase paid subscriptions and token top-ups or manage an active subscription, you are redirected to Stripe Checkout or the Stripe Customer Portal on a Stripe domain. Stripe may use its own cookies and comparable storage technologies there, in particular for secure payment processing, session management and fraud prevention. These technologies are not set by GrowHelper on the GrowHelper domain. Stripe's privacy and cookie information additionally applies to processing on Stripe domains.
5. Legal basis
The storage operations described above are necessary to provide the digital service expressly requested by you. They therefore do not require prior consent under section 25(2)(2) TDDDG. Where personal data is processed, the processing is based, depending on the function, on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for performance of the contract or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional service.
6. No tracking or advertising profiling
GrowHelper currently does not use optional analytics, marketing or advertising technologies and does not create cross-site usage profiles on that basis. Therefore, no consent banner is currently required. If non-essential technologies are introduced in the future, they will only be activated after valid consent and this policy will be updated accordingly.
7. Managing browser storage
You can delete or block cookies, localStorage and other website data at any time through your browser settings. This may remove language settings, saved app preferences or your sign-in session. Some GrowHelper functions may then require you to sign in again or re-enter settings.
8. Changes to this policy
We update this policy if the storage technologies used, GrowHelper features or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this URL.
